Busy past week-end for the Peewee Rep Flyers.

Flyers first game was vs the Leitrim Hawks.  A strong Flyers first period but only one goal to show for their efforts and lead 1-0 after the first on Justin Doak's goal.  Hawks took control of game and scored 3 in the second to take a 3-1 lead.  Jack Pixley's 3rd period goal from a nice feed from Doak cut the lead to 3-2 but Leitrim would add another late in the game and win 4-2.

Flyers second game was vs the Renfrew Timberwolves.   Flyers got off to a slow start but got a goal late in the 2nd period by Jack Pixley to take the lead 1-0 from a nice pass from Jack Craig.  Midway through the 3rd the Timberwolves would tie the game but Wesley Jackson would score the winning goal off a loose puck with only a minute left and Flyers would escape with a 2-1 win.

Flyers third and final round robin game was vs the South Grenville Rangers.  The Rangers would strike first for an early 1-0 lead in the 1st.  Justin Doak's goal from Drake Thomas would even the game at 1-1 midway through the first.  Wes Jackson then put the Flyers ahead 2-1 assist from Doak.  Early in the 2nd Jack Pixley would score on a nice set up from Ryder Mallett and Tanner Woodcock.  Doak would add his second of the game late in the 3rd from Logan Chiasson and Flyers would win 4-1.

Quarter finals were up next as the Flyers got the 6th seed and faced the 3rd seeded GOB Blues.  Blues dominated most of the first period and opened up the scoring 1-0 and took that lead after the first.   Flyers would even the game at 1 when Jack Craig shot home a goal from a great pass from Drake Thomas in the corner.  Ryder Mallett would get the other assist.   Flyers would strike again as Wes Jackson sniped home a shot cutting across the slot with assists from Braden Dillon and Jack Pixley.   Flyers would go up 3-1 on Pixley's PP goal with an assist to Kaleb Baldwin.  The Blues would score late in third to cut the lead to 3-2 but Flyers would hang on for the victory after some close calls late in the game.  Tyson Young was solid in goal for the Flyers win to preserve the victory.

In the Semi Finals the Flyers would face off against the hometown Pembroke Lumber Kings the #5 seed.  Jack Pixley opened the scoring with an unassisted rush and the first period ended 1-0.   Early in the second off an offensive face off Ryder Mallett would put the Flyers up 2-0 with a rebound goal - with assists going to Wes Jackson and Braden Dillon.  With the Flyers short handed Pembroke would get on the board and make the score 2-1 mid way through second.  Tyson Young made a breakaway save late in second to keep things 2-1 heading to the third.  The Kings kept the pressure coming and tied things up 2-2 early in the third.   Justin Doak would answer right back with assists to Drake Thomas and Jack Craig to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead.   Flyers would go up 4-2 as Mason Norgaard scored from some great work down low by Braden Dillon on the assist.  Flyers would hold off the Kings and win 4-2.

In the finals the Flyers would once again have to face the Leitrim Hawks the #1 seed.  The Hawks came out strong and scored a goal late in first period to hold a 1-0 lead.  The Hawks looked to go up 2-0 but Tyson Young made a huge breakaway stop to keep the Flyers down by just 1-0 after the 1st period.  Justin Doak would tie up the game on the powerplay with assists to Mason Norgaard and Jack Pixley and the score would stay deadlocked 1-1 after two periods.   The Flyers would strike on the PP with 5 mins left in the 3rd as Jack Pixley blasted home a point shot with a great screen out front by Braden Dillon.  Assists on the goal from Logan Chiasson and Justin Doak.  The Flyers had to kill off a penalty with 2 mins left to secure the victory with some anxious moments but won the Championship game 2-1.

The Flyers have qualified for the International Silver Stick in Forest Ontario Jan 10th -12th and will compete against 5 other Regional Silverstick Champions - 3 other Champions from Ontario and 2 from the USA. The boys should be very proud of their accomplishment.  This tournament is extremely tough to win with 16 teams mainly of major year Ottawa based teams and a couple from the EOMHL league.

This will be the first FRONTENAC team to represent at the International Silverstick since 1993 as well first team to win a Silverstick B Championship since 1993.

Parents/Family/Coaches are extremely proud of our Boys!

WAY TO GO FLYERS!
