International Silverstick.........
After winning the Pembroke Regional Silverstick in November the Peewee Rep Flyers were in Forest ON Jan 10-12th for the Peewee B International Silverstick.

Flyers first game was Friday morning vs the Ilderton Jets.  The Flyers started the game strong opening up a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals by Jack Pixley.  First goal assists went to Braden Dillon and Wesley Jackson his second goal was unassisted on the power play.  Ilderton cut the lead 2-1 heading into the 3rd period.  Ilderton tied the game early in the third and took the lead 3-2 with only 3:30 left in the game.  Ryder Mallett tied the game with 2:40 left assists to Pixley and Logan Chiasson.  Just 20 seconds later Braden Dillon scored the game winner from Pixley and Justin Doak.  Jackson hit the empty net with 3 seconds left assists to Mallett.  Tyson Young got the win.  Flyers won 5-3.

2nd game Friday was vs the Shelburne Wolves.  The first period was scoreless.  Shelburne opened the scoring 1-0 early in the 2nd period but the Flyers responded when Jackson's passing attempt hit a Shelburne player and slid into the open net knotting the game 1-1.  The Wolves took a strangle hold on the game scoring 3 straight goals and taking a 4-1 lead into the third.  The Flyers scored 2 quick goals to start the 3rd to get within one at 4-3.  Pixley scored first unassisted and then Jack Craig scored a rebound goal from Drake Thomas.  The Flyers tied the game with 5:41 left when Chiasson's point shot hit the back of the net and then hit the goalie and landed behind the goal line to tie the game.  The third period ended 4-4 and a 5 on 5 sudden death OT would occur.  The Flyers wasted little time scoring when Dillon scored in close assist to Pixley and Doak.  Flyers won 5-4 in OT.  Young in nets again for the win.

Saturday morning game the Flyers faced the Lambeth Lancers.  Lambeth opened the scoring late in the first and held a 1-0 lead all the way till the 3rd period.  Lambeth scored again early in the 3rd and took a 2-0 lead.  Doak cut the lead to 2-1 late in the 3rd but the Flyers couldn't find the back of the net again.  Young was solid in nets.  Final Score Lambeth 2 Flyers 1.

2nd game Saturday the Flyers faced the Wyoming Cutthroats.  Flyers scored 2 quick goals in the 1st to take a 2-0 lead.  Doak scored first from Kaleb Baldwin and Chiasson scored from Gibson Lakins.   Wyoming cut the lead to 2-1 but Dillon scored from Mallett and Jackson to give the Flyers a 3-1 lead heading to the 3rd period.  Wyoming got several good chances to score including a penalty shot but Young shut the door all game long.  Dillon scored his second of the game into an empty net assist from Pixley and Flyers won the game 4-1.

A points system put the Flyers in 3rd place overall 1/2 point behind Lambeth and 1 point behind Ilderton.  This meant Flyers would face Lambeth in the semis and Ilderton a bye to the Finals.

In the Sunday morning semi final rematch Lambeth scored first on a goal mouth scramble when the Flyers couldn't clear the puck. 1-0 Lambeth.  Pixley responded on the PP when Jackson's shot hit a Lambeth defender and went right to Pixley who fired the puck into the net tying the game.  Dillon also had an assist on the play.   The first period would end tied 1-1.  Lambeth would score early in the 2nd to take a 2-1 lead into the 3rd period.  Early in the 3rd period Lambeth would score again when a deflected shot went high in the air and bounced into the Flyers net giving Lambeth a 3-1 lead.  Mallett scored shortly after for the Flyers to get the Flyers back in the game 3-2 with 10 minutes left.  The Flyers had some good chances to tie the game but just couldn't tie the game up.  Young very solid in nets again giving the Flyers a chance to win.

Although the boys came up a bit short they should be VERY VERY proud of their accomplishments.  Being the first Frontenac team to represent our centre at the International Siliverstick stage since 1992.

WAY TO GO FLYERS!!!
