2025/26 Update 001 - Registration is OPEN!
Frontenac Families,

With the school year wrapping up and as we approach the start of the summer season, we wanted to provide you with the first update for the upcoming 2025/2026 season. It is hard to believe that we will be back at the rink in only a few short months. Enjoy the break and soak up some sunshine this summer!

Rep tryouts for 2025/26 are complete and Local League Registration is well under way.  Although it is our offseason, your FMH volunteers are already busy behind the scenes preparing for next year.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

REGISTRATION
U11-U18 Rep Registration is complete.  Local League registration opened early in June. Happy to report that registration costs remain unchanged from last year.  Here is the link to our Registration page.

Unlike previous years, registration is first come-first served.  Although the last thing we want to have to do is turn any potential players away, we are limited to the number of teams that we can run based on available ice time. This is a sign of our successful programming, but please register early to ensure you have a spot

As Age Divisions fill up we will be closing registration for certain age groups.  Any Registration or De-Registrations that happen after Aug. 31 will be subject to a $50 administration fee

To help our families, you can opt in to one of our monthly payment plans.

LEARN TO SKATE (LTS)
Happy to announce that we will run Learn to Skate sessions next fall.  Dates & Registration for LTS will open in early July. We will be looking forward to some of our fall session LTS graduates having the opportunity to register for our IP (U7) programming (with no late registration fee) so they can continue to grow their love of the game!

REP TRYOUTS & OPEN BORDERS
Congratulations to all of our players who made rep teams this spring.  This was the first year with Open Borders.  It was very interesting to see how it rolled-out.  Lots of observations and feedback.  We will be discussing it as an Association, and working with OMHA to improve the process next year.  Happy to hear any feedback as this was a new process for all OMHA member associations this spring.

U9 MD
U9 MD Tryouts will occur in early September, tryout registration information will be distributed later this summer.  Congratulations to Mike Shulist who was selected to return as our U9 MD head coach.

Players born in 2017 and 2018 will be eligible to register for tryouts. The process for this team will involve players registering for U9 or U8 Local League now, and then registering for U9 MD tryouts once they are available later this summer. Additional registration information will be made available to the players selected, for them register for the U9 MD team.

Please note that selection of our U9 MD roster will not only be based on player skill level, but also their effort, listening abilities, and overall attitude. Although the focus of our U9 MD programming is on player development, this is an introduction to rep hockey and ice time during games may not be equal in certain game situations, at the discretion of the coach. Our strong U9 MD program over the years has built the foundation for our successful rep programming in our older ages. More information for U9 MD Tryouts will be distributed by Mike once details are confirmed.

If anyone has any questions regarding this, please feel free to reach out to Mike or I as we have both been involved in this age group in the past.

SELECT TEAMS
Based on the success of last years Select program we are hoping to run it again this year.  When you register, you will be asked a question whether you would be interested in playing U11, U13 or U15 Select.  Let us know if you are interested.

If we get enough interest we may be able to run all 3 Age Divisions.  Coaches were selected last week:
U11 - Randy Kempe
U13 - Kody Adams
U15 - Tom Westendorp

Lots of lessons learned from last year.  There will be some changes this year including capping the number (and dates) of Select Tournaments.

LOCAL LEAGUE COACHES
We are very lucky to have great volunteer bench staff in Frontenac.  If you are interested in being a head coach, please reach out to our Coach Coordinators, Terry McFarlane and/or Brent Hole.  The application form is here:

The OHF Screening and VSC upload process for the 2025/2026 season is already open so we should be able to get a head start on getting our coaches approved for this upcoming season.

YOUR FMH BOARD
I would like to introduce your FMH Board this year.   We are still looking for an ICHL (Local League) Coordinator.  This is a very important role responsible for coordinating and advocating for our Local League programming, which accounts for the largest portion of our players. Please do not feel overwhelmed to volunteer for this role as we have lots of other board members that will help ease our new coordinator into this role. I was able to fill in for this role last year, and if I can do it, just about anyone can!
