Inter Community House League (ICHL)  |  U9 / U11 / U13 / U15 / U18

Our association supports over 350 players and 100 volunteers, providing weekly hockey practices and home games at the Frontenac Community Arena. Teams in U9 through U18 participate in the Inter-Community Hockey League (ICHL) which involves travel and play with Gananoque, Loyalist (Amherstview), Deseronto, Prince Edward County, Brighton and Stone Mills (Tamworth) teams.

Our House League Philosophy is based upon a recreational hockey theme. FMHA will endeavor to provide recreational hockey with an emphasis on skill development and fair play. To that end, FMHA will provide programs in which each participant may maximize their potential as an athlete and a team mate. It is hoped that through the various programs offered, players will develop, who by choice can progress to more competitive teams.

PLAYER EVALUATIONS:
Each year, the FMHA runs evaluation skates in order to assess each player's hockey skills and skating ability and assign teams that will be as balanced as possible in each division, making for an enjoyable experience and exciting hockey action for the kids and parents throughout the year. Additional player movement may be required early in the season to finalize the balancing process. We will aim to conclude player movement before the December break. We understand that most players do not wish to be moved, but please cooperate with the convenors when trades are made. Coaching and team staff will also be taken into consideration when making final selections. For more detail please go to our ICHL Evaluations web page.

TEAM REQUESTS:

Any requests must be made in writing prior to tryouts starting - no exceptions. Each request will be reviewed by the Association but we cannot guarantee any requests we receive. Please be specific with your request and reason for request. Send requests to [email protected]

SCHEDULE:
The 2023-2024 ICHL season dates are not yet confirmed, please be sure to stay tuned for details. Playoffs usually begin early February and finish up end February with the Championship Tournaments to follow.
A weekly 50 min. practice time will be assigned to each team with ice times starting at 5pm on weekdays. Most games are scheduled for weekends including Friday evening to Sunday evening and involves some travel to play with Gananoque, Amherstview, Picton, Brighton,  Deseronto and Tamworth teams as well as our own Frontenac teams.

EQUIPMENT:
Every child will receive their team jersey once the teams are firmed up in October. In the meantime, please ensure your child has a jersey and a pair of socks for the assessments/practices prior to teams being formed.
Your player will need to wear full hockey equipment at all times when on the ice. This includes a CSA approved certified hockey helmet, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, jock or jill, hockey shorts, shin pads, gloves, stick and skates.
