This group of young Flyers are coming a long way

The Frontenac Flyers Novice Rep team has had a tremendously successful first half of the season this year. The players, made up of birth years 2011 and 2012, have been playing a loop compromised of “B” and “C” ranked teams from Gananoque, Stirling, Central Hastings, Prince Edward County, Loyalist and Napanee. Their “unofficial” 8-2-2 record and + 40 goal differential is proof of their hard working and competitive attitude. Each player has improved immensely and contributed positively to this highly skilled and well-rounded group. Most importantly, these kids are loving hockey and having fun! Singing and dancing in the change room, pizza parties in the hotels, mini stick battles and lots of laughter are highlights of the season along with their impressive wins.

This weekend marks the beginning of the transition from half ice to full ice games and the Flyers kick off the home stretch of the season with a game against Loyalist on Saturday. It’ll be a challenge for them to go from half ice with four skaters, to five on five full ice competitions, but this group is up to the task!  “Climbing the mountain” during practice has prepared them to skate their hearts out on full ice.

They have 8 more regular season games to play on full ice followed by a seeded 11 team tournament made up of “B” and “C” centers from across south eastern Ontario. They are also headed to upcoming tournaments in Bradford and Niagara Falls. This team is in good shape to compete and is hoping for continued success in the weeks to come.

Go Flyers Go!
