Flyers win 4 straight games to win Score Wars Tournament

Flyers started out the tournament with a 2-0 win over the Kingston Canadien Major A team.  Tyson Young earned the shutout.  Jack Craig scored from Justin Doak and Tanner Woodcock scored from Kaleb Baldwin and Jack Pixley.

Up next the Flyers defeated the Brockville Braves 6-3.  Fraser Himmelman got the win in nets for the Flyers.  Ryder Mallett and Jack Pixley each scored twice with Wesley Jackson and Jack Craig each scoring once.  Pixley had 2 assists and Jackson and Craig had one each.  2 wins earned Flyers top spot in the A division and would face the 2nd seeded Napanee Stars in Division B on Sunday morning.

In the semi final match the Stars came out strong and held a 2-0 lead after the first.  The Flyers fought back with a couple of Power play goals to tie the match at 2-2.  Napanee scored 2 more quick goals to take a 4-2 lead but the Flyers scored late in the 2nd to close the gap to 4-3 Stars heading into the third.  Napanee held the lead late in the third until the Flyers scored late to send the game to Overtime.  The Flyers had a penalty from the 3rd period carried over to start OT - so the Stars started OT 3 on 2.  The Flyers held off the Stars and then got a 3 on 2 of their own.  With play in the Stars zone and Flyers goalie on the bench on a delayed Stars penalty call Justin Doak fired home the winner from a nice set up from Wesley Jackson.  Doak had 2, Braden Dillon, Mallett and Logan Chiasson added the other goals.  In the other Semi Final game the undefeated South Muskoka Bears beat the Kingston Canadiens 3-1 to setup the finals.

In the Final game the Flyers came out strong and took a 3-0 lead after the first period.  Doak opened up scoring from Craig.  Dillon then scored from Doak and Pixley and Mason Norgaard also scored from Pixley and Baldwin.  The Flyers added 3 more in the 2nd period to take a commanding 6-0 lead into the third.  Dillon scored his second of the game from Jackson and Baldwin.  Pixley scored from Craig and Drake Thomas.  Doak added his second as well from Chiasson.  With run time in affect due to the goal differential the Flyers added one more for a 7-0 final.  Pixley scored his second of the game from Doak.  Tyson Young was very solid earning the shuotout even stopping a penalty shot with only 17 seconds left in the game.

In the Score Wars shootout on Saturday their were 50 shooters and 7 goalies entered in the shootout.  After the 1st round 15 shooters were successful and the top 4 goalies remained.  After the 2nd round the field went down to 5 shooters and 3 goalies.  Ryder Mallett of the Flyers was the only shooter to score in all 3 rounds and he won the shootout as the top shooter.   The goalies were now down to 2 and faced off in a one on one challenge that saw Tyson Young of the Flyers emerge as the top goalie of the shootout.  Congrats to both players.
