Score Wars Tournament Rules

 

 

1.                    OMHA rules and regulations shall apply to all teams, except as noted in following                                                                                                                                                                           rules below.

 

2.         Teams are guaranteed three games in all divisions.  Rep tournament maximum 4 games.

            Period lengths in the Atom and Peewee HL/LL divisions will be 10 – 10 – 12

            Period lengths in the Peewee Rep Tournament will be 10 – 12 - 12

            No time-outs are allowed in any tournament games. Overtime will be ONLY be played in

           HL/LL championship games and pw rep semi finals and championship games.

 

3.         Standings will be based on points: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie.

 

4.         TIE-BREAKING will be based, in order, on:

            a) Total Points

            b) The head-to-head record involving the teams tied (if equal number of teams).

            c) The best ratio of               Goals For                      in all round-robin games

                                              Goals For + Goals Against

            d) The team with the most goals scored

            e) The team with the lowest number of penalty minutes (misconducts count as 10)

            f) A toss of a coin by the tournament chairman or designate.

 

5.         Tournament officials will make all FINAL decisions regarding anything tournament related and their decisions are final no protests are allowed. 

 

6.         OVERTIME will be conducted in a single 5 minute stop time sudden death period.  The OT period will start 3 on 3 and if the overtime is still tied at the 3 min mark – at the next stoppage in play, the game will be played 2 on 2.  If the 5 mins period is scoreless a sudden death shootout will occur with visiting team shooting first.  Teams will shoot until a winner is determined.  Same player can not be used after they have taken a shot.  Penalties in OT players are still subtracted off the ice.  If a team takes 2 penalties on 2 on 2 then they will play with 1 player on ice and the other team will play with 3 skaters.  Once penalties are over and there is a stoppage, play will resume 2 on 2.   

7.         Each team manager or coach must fill out a paper game sheet prior to each game.  Only players on approved OMHA rosters can play in the tournament as per OMHA rules. 

 

8.        Games may/will start early, teams must be ready to go on the ice 15 minutes before there scheduled game time.  Teams not ready to start will be assessed a 2 mins delay of game penalty.  Teams will be given a 2-minute warm-up prior to each game.

 

9.         If the goal differential between two teams is 5 goals or more at any time, the game becomes running time.  Penalties in run time are 3 mins for a minor and 7 mins for a major.  The game returns to stop time once the goal spread reduces to 4 goals again.

 10.       Teams are asked to leave their dressing room in a neat and clean condition within 20 minutes of the conclusion of their game.

 

11.       All teams will receive a Score Wars tshirt (based on the list provided by your team). They will be handed out prior to first game. 

 

12.       Any 5-minute match major penalty will disqualify the player(s) from the tournament

 

 

13.      Players must not go on the ice until all arena staff have left the ice, the Zamboni

           door has been closed unless the rink attendant buzzes the teams to go on the ice. Coaching

            staff must walk around the boards to their team bench. DO NOT CUT ACROSS THE                                                                                                    

            ICE  SURFACE.

            

14.      It is the responsibility of the coach of each team to ensure suspended players are

           brought to the attention of the organizing committee.
